TEHRAN / TEL AVIV / WASHINGTON – June 17, 2025 — The Israel-Iran conflict 2025 has taken a dangerous new turn as both nations trade the most intense missile strikes seen in the region’s history. U.S. President Donald Trump has issued an urgent evacuation warning to residents of Tehran, further raising international alarm as the crisis deepens.
Iran claims that Israeli warplanes targeted civilian infrastructure in Tehran overnight, including a hospital and the national broadcast center, while Israel accuses Iran of unleashing more than 300 precision missiles on key urban and military targets, including parts of Tel Aviv.
Iran Reports Deadly Toll as Civilians Flee
At least 224 Iranians, including women and children, have been confirmed dead, with more than 1,000 others injured, according to Iran’s Ministry of Health. Meanwhile, Israel reports 24 fatalities and dozens of injuries as its Iron Dome defense system is reportedly overwhelmed by the scale of the assault.
Iranian authorities have designated parts of central Tehran as evacuation zones. Over 330,000 residents are reportedly attempting to flee to northern provinces amid power blackouts, traffic gridlock, and internet restrictions. Public hospitals are overwhelmed, and fuel stations have run dry in parts of the capital.
“We haven’t seen this kind of attack since the war with Iraq in the 1980s,” said an Iranian civil defense official quoted by local media.

Trump: ‘Evacuate Tehran Now’
From Washington, President Trump issued a dramatic message via Truth Social, stating: “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran! This is no longer a warning. It’s a matter of life and death.” He further accused Iran of provoking a regional war and confirmed that he had walked out of the G7 Summit in Canada to respond to the emergency.
French President Emmanuel Macron, who is chairing the G7 this year, told reporters that Trump has floated a potential ceasefire plan through diplomatic channels. “The U.S. President has made a proposal,” Macron said, though the details remain unclear.
Oil Prices Surge, World Watches Nervously
The ripple effects of the Israel-Iran conflict 2025 have already reached global markets. Brent crude surged past $73.50 per barrel, its highest since mid-2024, amid fears that oil shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz could be blocked.
The United Nations, along with Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, is actively involved in backchannel diplomacy. The International Red Cross has called for immediate humanitarian corridors into affected Iranian cities.
Israel has not yet responded to Trump’s evacuation message but insists it is acting in self-defense following Iran’s drone strike last week on Haifa’s port and military intelligence center.
Nuclear Deal and Ceasefire Efforts Hang in the Balance
As the situation intensifies, European leaders are pushing to revive aspects of the abandoned Iran nuclear deal as a framework to negotiate a de-escalation. Russian and Chinese diplomats are reportedly holding separate consultations with Tehran.
Back in the U.S., the Pentagon confirmed that while American forces are not directly involved in combat, “contingency forces” have been moved closer to the Gulf “to defend U.S. interests and allies.”
A Regional War in the Making?
With Iran warning of “final retaliation” and Israel vowing to “neutralize Iranian aggression,” the Israel-Iran conflict 2025 risks spilling over into a broader Middle East war. Thousands of civilians on both sides are caught in the crossfire, and the prospect of a diplomatic resolution remains fragile.
For now, the world watches — with growing dread — as one of the most volatile flashpoints in modern geopolitics teeters on the edge of full-blown catastrophe.
