Marcus Rashford campaign forces PM Boris to change policy

PM Boris Johnson this week made a quick u-turn on providing free school meals this Summer after a tight campaign by Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

A few weeks ago, PM Boris Johnson had taken away lunch support for school going kids over May half term. Many families are finding it hard to afford a full course meal as the lock down continues to make life more difficult. Too many families were getting to a breaking point.

After a vicious campaign under the hashtag #maketheUturn, the Manchester United forward pressured the government into reconsidering the initiative following the ease of coronavirus restrictions. Now, 1.3 million children will have access to £15-a-week food meal vouchers over the school holidays. Marcus Rashford and family benefited a lot from the meals while he was young and that’s why he was so passionate.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær congratulated Marcus via Manchester United’s handle for the great job.

Marcus Rashford is set to feature vs Tottenham for Manchester United on the 19th of June after over 100 days of no premier league matches due to the pandemic.

All the best Rash!
